Geodynamics and Mineral Resources of Proterozoic basins of India

I attended this seminar on the 5th representing OSGeo-India to promote open source GIS in geologists. The Delegates are mostly geologists and students of geology from various places in India. The papers presented were on proterozoic era's mineral deposits.

MapServer 5.6.0 has been released by the MapServer Team.Detailed OSGeo announcement (http://www.osgeo.org/node/984) on the new release

The much anticipated XML based map file has been released in this version. This will certainly make developers life easy in generating the map file.

New features in 5.6:

• MS RFC 51: XML Mapfile schema and XSLT (see http://trac.osgeo.org/mapserver/wiki/XMLMapfiles)
• MS RFC 52: One-pass query processing, making WFS queries on database backends much much faster
